Tips for using Microsoft Paint and pixelling:
- Use the thumbnail option; it allows you to view your eventual product in the zoomed mode. View > Zoom > Show Thumbnail
- Don't use the default colours provided, they are too bright. The only default colours you should use are Green: Transparency, Black/Grey: First Outline, White: Shading and highlights.
- Refrain from using the shape tools (except for maybe the rectangle tool). Circle lollipops Will Come Out Bad.
- When pixelling, always Zoom to 8px for the best results.
- Always try to make pixels look realistic, a hand with 3 fingers doesn't give the best results.
- Try different pixelling styles! Don't just stick to one, experiment with new styles to give your pixels the Very Best look.
- Don't be over-inspired. Drawing an ice-cream is OK, but using the exact same colours, exact same positions etc is NOT OK.
